MEDIA & INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES
Mick Stone (UK), racing journalist in a feature article in The Racing
Post (UK)
"New members are registering at a rate of 200 per month and
the signs are that www.GlobalGreyhounds.com will establish itself as the
central forum for greyhound people worldwide-in fact it has probably
already done so. See you there."
Paul Hennessey (IRE), Ireland's leading trainer,
commenting on information submitted by a member:
"Terrific Service. Well done
the team at Mullingar. This is a first class service provided
for all the interested parties and people wanting to know
results."
Rodney Fuller (AUS), Race Caller
& SKY Presenter:
"Hi Greyhound folks, Great to be part of the Global Greyhound
forum team. I find it very interesting to read the different
thoughts and comments from real greyhound people, whether
positive or negative. Over the last 25 years I have bred and
raced dogs as well as called them and hopefully have some idea
as to the problems in the sport. It has been a difficult
transition from regular race caller at 2KY and having a great
head for radio to that of a presenter's role at SKY so any help
I can get from people like yourself is all the better. Also it
means I can help convey the thoughts of others to the powers at
be so they are aware and can maybe rectify the problems. Maybe!
We all know there are numerous problems in the sport and in the
media coverage of the racing, but if comments are constructive
and based on sound logic and knowledge, Sky will listen and act
accordingly. And that is not talking as an employee, as
the management are well aware of my feelings on certain matters
A few others do read the threads although I am not aware of
their nom de plumes. I learned about the site from a mutual
friend who is based in London and was tied up with the Go
Barking Mad project and have been just upgraded to full member
last Friday. In closing it is great to be part of the team and
if I can be any help don't hesitate to let me know. All the best
and successful punting."
Pat Flynn (IRE), Manager
Mullingar Greyhound Stadium:
"I personally see GlobalGreyhounds.com
as an excellent website and forum for all greyhound issues"
Kelly Clark (USA), Jacksonville
Greyhound Park, Florida
"I think you have a fantastic idea
here. I love this place. It gets everyone thinking about things
and each person gets to voice how he or she feels."
Darren Azzopardi (AUS), FOX SPORTS,
Australia
"I have
thoroughly enjoyed the use of your splendid service over the
couple years and without hesitation would say it is the best
interactive website I have been a part of..."
BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER
"Czarina"
(AUS)
"Global Greyhounds is one of the best things to happen in the entire history of greyhound racing. People from
around the world can connect instantly and
discuss every aspect of greyhound racing, not only the good but also the
bad, we as stakeholders in this industry have a right to this information,
warts and all. And wouldn't it get a bit boring without a few rumours and a
bit of spice. The Breeder's
forum has enabled pedigree researchers the world over to
exchange their information and present it to us. Our world class gurus must
spend many a long hour researching lines, not only lines that affect them or
their dogs but all lines and all for the betterment of the breed. Their
dedication and hard work together with Global member's input will eventually
give us as near as is possible to a complete history of the racing
greyhound's origin. The
Injuries and Treatments Section is invaluable, not only for general day
to day information, but let's say you had an emergency with your dog in the
middle of the night, no vet is available and you're in a panic and don't
know what to do. I'll bet if you put an urgent message on these boards
someone will help you"
Robert
Jewell (USA)
"...Just Since I have been on this GG site I have meet (over the
internet) many fine greyhounders. In summary, there is a lot of
really good people in the Greyhound business (including yourself) and my wife
and I are proud to be involved with this industry..."
"TryTryAgain" (USA)
"...The informational aspects of this site are great. Do people push
their studs? Yes. Do people give opinions who don't know enough to do
so? Yes. Do threads get started that are worth nothing but
entertainment value? Yes. But goldarn it, that's the fun of this site,
too. It's like the difference between studying a book in school and
reading it for pleasure. One's enjoyable and the other, drudgery..."
"Dixie" (AUS)
"What a Classic. A Swede, answering a question about an Aussie dog,
asked by a South African. I think that says it all. How global can
Global Greyhounds get."
"George48" (UK)
"...she was imported by me
to the UK, she was purchased from an Australian Global member prior to
her birth...so this site really does bring people together, I have
since purchased another bitch from another Global member."
Russ Watkin (UK)
"Congratulations are
also offered on an ever popular GG site, noticed fast approaching the
4,000 member mark (now over 5,000 members -ed.), a fantastic idea has proved a very popular site
for the greyhound enthusiast worldwide, keep up the good work!"
David Miles
"Reactabond" (USA)
"[GlobalGreyhounds]
is an excellent forum for greyhound lovers worldwide to learn from other
members and discuss all aspects of the sport"
"Zone" (AUS)
"My
hat goes off to GG as well for a fantastic site..."
Robert Browne (IRE)
"This is a brilliant forum guys..."
EDUCATION
"Punter" (AUS) - April 2005
Welcome guys ! the more the merrier, this is the single most useful
site on the 'net.. I wouldn't have PAID money to join unless it was.
As do most, I believe most information should be free. You can find
detailed information on just about anything online if you look hard
enough.
"FF Dogs" (USA)
"Just 6 months ago I was very new to the ownership side of Greyhound
Racing. I still consider myself new but I have learned a ton in that
time. I find the information on this site to be incredibly
informative. If you look back through old topics using search and if
you read, read, read the current topics there is a lot to be learned
in a short amount of time. I also took the time to send emails to
numerous people that I found on Global and asked questions. Some of
them were "dumb" questions and some were good ones but many people
gave me excellent advice. Many of those people I still use for advice
or input today. I would strongly recommend doing this in addition to
posting questions."
"Tredders" (AUS)
"I think your new charges are very fair
when you consider the valuable information on this site. Try buying
books that will give you the same knowledge, and you will find it's no
contest"
Australian Member (AUS)
"We are far better informed than we were
pre-GlobalGreyhounds. There is no better source of information and
knowledge about dogs than this site. 10 months ago I thought I knew a
bit about Greyhounds. But I have learnt more in the past 10 months
than I did in the 15 years I've been involved with the dogs."
Jim Roche (USA)
"Isn't it great that this information is
available on GlobalGreyhounds. Where else can you just ask a question
and have an answer literally within minutes... I love it."
Holger von Boehn (GER), Greyhound-Data.com
"It's wonderful to have such exceptionally gifted experts on
GlobalGreyhounds.com"
Frank Price (USA)
"I really enjoy your site.
I knew something about breeding greyhounds before I became a member -
my greyhound knowledge has increased exponentially since joining
GlobalGreyhounds. I've received excellent advise on subjects such as
taxes, greyhound breeding, adoption, brood care, wagering - the list
goes on and on"
"Byjer"
(USA)
"Talking
to people like you and Ken Biehle and others and listening more than I
talk has usually proven to be a pretty good recipe for learning. Of
course trying to pick up the little gems of wisdom from those on
this board has been helpful over the years as well. There are many
things we can learn if we are willing to make a few mistakes along the
way as well. I appreciate all of the help that you and Ken and the
others in the Charter organization have given us and all of the wisdom
I have been able to pick up from this in the industry on this board.
Hopefully I can continue to learn on this board and at the meets and
track and of course from the members of the Charter team."
"NYdogs"
"The site is excellent and very informative. A good forum for
information and opinion. I now live in New York but have a number of
race bitches in Ireland who I am hoping to breed this year and next, so
any information on breeding I can get over there is great."
"Deniso" (USA)
"While browsing the net, I have stumbled across this excellent
forum. Well done to all concerned! This is a great idea; very
democratic and multicultural... may I say many thanks to all those who
submitted info and results.. your efforts have been very helpful!!
This forum is like a shining blue lake in a vast wasteland of media
mediocrity and ignorance."
"Rockingship" (USA)
"What Wendy and Jim have accomplished here is nothing short of
phenomenal. There are almost 1200 (now over 5000 -ed.) members worldwide, by my last
reckoning. This forum has attracted all sorts of members, who are in
some way connected to the great sport of greyhound racing. The
dialogue and information here can stand with the best Thoroughbred
forums on the web. There is a comprehensive approach to this forum
that is unparalleled----even a section for humour, and spoofing. What
it doesn't have----or need----is a section for spleen venting, at the
expense of others, who may or may not be able to respond----whether or
not they share our personal opinions or beliefs. The administrators
have unselfishly given of their time, monies and effort to provide our
international membership with a venue for discussing the issues, and
otherwise becoming acquainted with one another. There is no ethical
reason why they should be defending their actions to those who agreed
to abide by their rules. This forum is a privilege----not anyone's
right. "
Australian Member
"A year ago I was wandering aimlessly looking for any
sort of information on my favorite pastime, greyhound racing, and there
was very little information on my sport. I didn't know anything
about the sport in the USA or Australia or any other country from that
matter but through GlobalGreyhounds knowledge that all I might need is
only a new topic away and because of GG people new to the sport if they
bother to listen and digest the very sound advice that is readily
available on this great discussion site, its always at hand and the way
membership is growing, a lot of aimless wanderers have found a home from
home"
Carolanne (UK)
"I have picked up quite a few useful tips and
hints, etc. from this site. I like many people visit probably 5 times a
day just to catch up on the latest"
"Czarina" (AUS)
"Despite my many years involvement in this wonderful sport, I still have a
thirst for knowledge and I for one will admit I have gleaned a wealth of
information from this"
"Rockingship" (USA)
"I have a feeling that Debbie will be returning at some point in the
not-too-far-distant future. Meanwhile, you will all have to take up the
slack, and keep this the most interesting forum in cyberspace. Good
luck."
PROMOTION
Paul Hennigan (USA)
“Truly GlobalGreyhounds is a platform to the world,
and will be a voice, that we as members can promote our sport to
new heights.”
Bluefawn (AUS)
“Bob has done an excellent job in promoting Bundy, and with the
Mega Day, with the help of friends on Global, he did a fantastic
job with prizes / prizemoney. With the way everyone enjoyed
themselves last year, it is an ideal opportunity to meet others
on global, all in one place at the same time, which is a Great
opportunity. Luddy, I look forward to meeting you. I am sure, as
soon as the date is announced, either you or Bob will post the
details. I saw Bundaberg on Getaway and it looked like a
beautiful place, so that definitely aroused my interest. Look
forward to being there. Bob, I will definitely chase up 'Angel'
when she returns from Singapore to find out the easiest way to
get there. And Pauline, Global is invaluable in relaying the
information. Thank you you all."
CLASSIFIEDS & ADVERTISING
Bob Black, (Kansas, USA):
"Rebecka
Ann was sold within 6 hours of posting on this board. Many thanks
to GlobalGreyhounds.com!"
Dan Barrow, General Manager, Regency
Racing, Inc.:
"We found advertising with
GlobalGreyhounds not only a great value, but a great resource which
generated many inquiries, resulting in our selling all of our pups
advertised in a very short period of time. We also appreciated the
prompt attention to our questions by the management staff. We
won't hesitate to place our ad with them the next time the need arises"
David Miles (UK) owner of Droopy’s Agassi:
"I have found [SMS text notifications to
mobile phones] absolutely invaluable and now that it isn’t working
[temporarily] I realize even more what an asset it is. You don’t have to
waste time keep logging on to see if any of the topics you are
interested in have been updated and the time lag between new posts and
notification is minimal. Anyone who wasn’t involved in the test really
should subscribe to it like mobiles, you won’t know how you ever managed
without. I would like to say that the development of this site over the
time since I started using it has been tremendous and the latest update
makes life so much easier."
Matthew Clark (AUS)
"A short note to thank you for a great service you provide. My
ad for the racing
kennels got a huge response and they were sold today. I will no longer
use Tabform to sell goods, YOU HAVE THE JOB!!!!!!!"
Ruth Rogers (IRE), former member of the
Irish Greyhound Board:
"I
sold my pups very well on the Global site. Thank You!"
Kevin Fish, TeamGreyhound (USA)

to GG, as I sold my last pup today at 11am and only advertised him last night at
11:30pm! What a great service!"
Pup72, (UK)
"I had an ad in the Sporting Press yesterday, previously advertised on here, IGW
and Greyhound Data. I got severe amount of timewasters yesterday although a
couple of genuine calls to follow up on. Gryhound Data and Global were as good
as the printed matter..."
