well, let's see....

Light of Fire 6s x 6d to Venetian Rose--meaningful female inbreeding, just beyond the RF model. My records are not complete, but see here....

Starfire Lady 5s x 4d to Byam Rose--RF

Shining Light 5s x 4d to Venetian Rose--RF

Temlee 4s x 5d to Brenda Gay--RF

Rowan Vale 4s x 3d to Byam Rose--RF

Satan's Legend 4s x 4d to Venetian Rose--RF

FWIW...the sire mentioned in your post, Light of Fire, just misses the RF model by one remove, being 6s x 6d to Venetian Rose. Of the 18 individuals who appear in his first 3 generations, 5 carry a RF to the above mentioned individuals---in other words, 27.77% of his first 3 generations are made up of individuals who carry the RF-----not to mention several more who are inbred to various dams 5x6 and 6x6.

I know I'm probably wasting all you good folks time, and I apologize for that, but can someone PLEASE explain this Ramussen Theory to me in plain English. It seems so interesting, but I'm afraid I don't have a clue what it means. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for any one that wishes to respond. I hope that I haven't made a nuisance of myself. smile smile smile smile

Superior female

It's been about 3 months, 76 replies and 2600 page view's but none of the RF devotee's have been able to say how you define a superior female (in greyhounds). I asked this question in my original post. This is the essence of Rasmussen's theory. So if you can't define a superior female how do you enact a RF mating.

Chief,
for someone who can put their finger on the world's pedigree's as quick as you, I'm surprised
your not able to answer your own question.

Here's a short list of aussie matrons that fit the 'superior' tag:

Gorgeous Babe, Gemdelina, Elsie Moss, Dinah Jet, Venetian Rose, Venetian Babe, Secretly, Temora Lee, Pitstock Park, Cursorial, Zulu Moss, Mandalass, Tara Silk and more recently Bay Road Queen, National Queen, Tenthill Flyer, Promises Free, Princess Diro. And I'm sure I've missed a few notables from the last fifty or sixty years of aussie breeding.

Two 'superior' matrons spring straight to mind from the UK, 'Prairie Peg' and 'Skipping Chick'.

Here's an easy criteria for you to use 'chief', any female that, once you've delete her from your data base, leaves holes the size of watermelons in the pedigree's left, can rightly be termed 'superior'. 'Superior'at both producing performers and/or producing producers.

I'm sure it'll be easy for you to notice the inter-twined relationship they boast through to todays greats.

'Superior' female breeders, they're the backbone of a top sire and the backbone of all breeding, IMHO.

My question was how do the RF devotee's or Rasmussen define a superior female. Not how I should. I worked out what was a great broodbitch 25 years ago.

The definition of............

'one who makes an excessive or tedious show of leaning',

I think this pretty much sums up your behaviour on this subject Paul,

If you can't come up with an answer to your question from the many responses given, your problem.

(Ever thought about going into politics?)

You are far too modest to be a good politician.

Good Question...

...Chief----that was my first thought when I encountered the RF. IMO, most females who show up twice, as far back as 3 removes in a pedigree, would seem at first glance, to be far "superior" to the vast majority of the female breeding population----as producers, anyway. I think there is a distinction to be made between "superior" and "Reines de Course" (How'm I doin', Slaney? wink). I seem to see a lot of RFs to Miss Gorgeous and Elsie Jones in contemporary US pedigrees----I think that those 2 would be far beyond superior, though.
